CSA Farm Tours

A different kind of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) for those who really want to experience the farm life and connect with where your food comes from. Think of it as agri-tourism: an adventure with a bag of fresh groceries at the end.

Day on the Farm
Cost: $150 per adult (over 16 years).
When: Selected Saturdays through the summer. Limited space is available. Email or call to make your reservation.
Who: Anyone of any age…individuals and families welcome.
We have a large fenced yard with activities for children.
What: A full day on the farm, working beside us and learning about all the animal inhabitants. Arrive in the morning, spend the day working with us, share a farm fresh meal with us over the campfire. After supper enjoy the serene sounds of country life with a stroll to the river, swimming, fishing or horseback riding. Bring your tent or camper and spend the night on the ranch with a clear view of the stars.
Also includes: $125 Ravenwood Bucks per adult that can redeemed for any of our in store products including fresh meats, eggs, produce, spices, sauces, etc. Pick it up when you head home, or we can deliver it over the course of the summer if you prefer. You can even put towards a side of beef or freezer pack.

Itinerary
10:00 am – Safety orientation, morning chores, meet the animals.
1:00 pm - Lunch at Ravenwood’s cafe in Caroline.
2:00 pm – Begin that day’s farm project (ie. build a fence, paint a piggy condo, weed the garden, haul hay bales with the tractor).
6:00 pm – Supper, campfire, horseback riding, relaxation, fishing. Set up your tent and plan to spend the night.

Fun Stuff You Might Get to Do:
-collect fresh eggs
-learn how to milk a cow
-learn how to bake buns
-feed pigs
-move chickens to fresh pasture
-helping with haying
-make pickles
-feeding the rabbits
-bottle feed baby goats
-brush horses
-learn how to make jam
-give a pig a back rub

What to Bring:
-clothes you don’t mind baby calf drool, mud, paint, horse hair, or any of the other numerous disgusting substances getting on.
-clean rubber boots (we have a foot bath for sanitizing them before and after venturing onto the farm)
-runners or street shoes to wear to lunch
-sunscreen, bug spray, a hat
-your tent/camper and overnight stuff if you wish to spend the night on the farm
-camera
-a sense of adventure, an open mind and your smile!
